As I enter my eighth year of traveling about
and tallying up the number of dates I play each year, I am left
with that one big question to ponder; do I still love it? Well,
yes I do. I have met so many wonderful people doing what I do.
People that could be looked at as neighbors by our proximity but
that I never would have met crossing the street or running into at
the supermarket. I have gotten to know some of you and you have
gotten to know me simply by sharing a few hours of songs and
conversation. These are the thoughts and memories that accompany
me on the drive home as well as the hours leading up to another
gig. In many ways, I guess you could say that I have become more
aware of the importance and positive effect of having a mutual
respect and admiration for those of you who support me.
As I continue on my ventures, its always
rewarding to see the new faces as well as familiar ones and the
show of enthusiasm for what I do. Believe me when I say that it
makes all the difference in the world when someone feels
appreciated for what they set out to do and I have been very
fortunate with that over the years. Some of you may have noticed
that I am toting a camera now to many of my gigs in an effort to
capture these memories for myself when I’m old and gray. Hopefully
I won’t be too annoying but I do want to remember all the good
times spent with all of you.
Musically, I am beginning to write again
after an extended hiatus (fancy word for good old- fashioned
writer’s block) and I’m hoping to follow up on “Almost Saturday
Night” sometime next year. In the meantime, I look forward to
spending more time with all of you and proving that many ills of
the world can be cured through wine and song. God Bless.
